I am Juliana Martina, an artist who explores the concept of identity through various forms of expression. Identity is a complex and dynamic concept that can be influenced by many factors, such as culture, history, environment, and personal experiences. Identity can also be expressed in different ways, such as through language, symbols, colours, shapes, and forms. I invite you to view my artworks at the upcoming exhibition hosted by Nationwide Curating, a beautiful gallery featuring Australian and New Zealand artists. You can find more information about the exhibition here nationwidecurating.com My artworks showcase my unique perspectives and styles, as well as my connections to my communities and contexts.
I have lived in countries like New Zealand, Scotland, Colombia, and Australia, as well as travelled to many other places around the world. These experiences have enriched my worldview and made me more open-minded and diverse in my thoughts. I use collage or mixed media to create self-portraits that incorporate personal and cultural elements. I use geometric shapes and patterns to represent different aspects of my identity, such as personality, values, beliefs, and goals. I use expressive colours and brushstrokes to convey my emotions, moods, and feelings. I aim to use my art as a way to advocate for important causes, such as mental health, modern slavery, and the impact of emotions on people who are going through hard times such as cancer. I hope that my art can inspire, challenge, and heal others who share my vision. I also experiment with different mediums, techniques, and formats to express my creativity and originality. The concept art process can be challenging but rewarding, as it allows me to communicate my ideas and visions to the world as well as keeping healthy and happy.
