ABOUT 'CORRUGATED PAINTING #2'

Visual Description:

The very base of this work, still visible at some of the outermost edges, is the shining silver of the corrugated iron sheet. On top of this, a large, soft brush has been used to apply a deep turquoise acrylic. A paler turquoise has then been added to the mid portion of the work, spanning the width of the sheet.

Branching from the bottom of the work, black and grey paint has been applied with a medium, flat brush within the indents of the corrugation, reaching from the base of the work to varied heights around the mid section. Similarly, white has been used on the outward bumps.

Silver aerosol has been used sparingly in the upper half of the work and has been sprayed from a distance in small, downward pointing arcs.

ABOUT LUKE

Luke Abdallah is an emerging artist, living and working in Sydney, Australia. Focusing primarily on expressive, abstract painting, Abdallah employs a multitude of tools and techniques to apply paint in swathes of texture and colour. Entranced in his artistic process, Abdallah’s gestural paint strokes capture his actions and movement, forming a rich tapestry of rhythmic energy.

Born totally blind and living with elective mutism, Abdallah incorporates multi-sensory inspiration into his works, often drawing expressiveness from a myriad of stimuli - sound, smell, texture, vibration and taste.

Keenly aware of the importance of accessible practice, Abdallah invites his audience to enjoy his works both by sight and by touch.
