Works by Samantha Lee-Curran are currently hanging upstairs at Gallery NWC!
These works are part of Samatha's body of work: The Rot and The Raw
'"The Rot and The Raw" refers to the emotions and memories we hold in our bodies. Some emotions and memories still feel fresh and raw like the day they occurred, when poked or prodded they sting just the same. While others sit in your body to fester and rot, they may not sting like the raw parts but they do sit in the background and ache all the same. These two phenomenon’s exist in the same body, just like they can in a piece of fruit. My poetry uses fruit as a metaphor for the body to highlight these similarities, as well as creating a visceral and physical entity for consuming one another, consuming a person you are sharing these highly sensitive experiences with.'
