Artist Statement & Bio

“Art lets me say things I can’t say out loud”. Informed by her lived experience – Sydney based artist Tracy Stirzaker investigates her thoughts, feelings and experiences as a sensitive woman, mother and carer. Tracy explores embodied emotional experiences and socio-cultural factors through the repetition of words, motifs and symbols. A fibre artist her art practice explores painting and textiles techniques, installations and mixed media. “A sensitive soul, creating and art making is a way for me to make sense of my world. I hope to inspire and empower others on their journey”.

After years attending local weekly art classes, Tracy Stirzaker pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW Art & Design 2016, as a mature aged student. Exhibiting regularly Tracy was a finalist in both the Hunters Hill and the Ravenswood Women’s Art Prizes in 2018. Tracy had her first solo show at Gallery Lane Cove in 2018 and her 2nd solo show in 2019 at White Rhino Artspace, a gallery she cofounded and directed, in St Leonards. Awarded a Willoughby City Council Arts & Culture grant Stirzaker’s third solo show More Myself: A Journey of Self Love was in 2022 and included a panel discussion on the Journey of Self-Love, Self-Worth and Creativity.
