SUSIE SUMMERS - WOTSO: PYRMONT
.
‘I love tapestry weaving. I love the quality of the lines, the pixelated and textured effects, and the ability to mix and blend thin strands of colour to achieve different shades. My current work is inspired by local landscapes in the Blue Mountains.'

Tapestry is one of the oldest forms of woven textile. They’re constructed by weaving coloured weft threads through plain warp threads, stretched around a frame.
Larger pieces take several months to complete. Solid blocks can be woven quite easily, but small, intricate sections with lots of colour changes take much longer.
In this exhibition you will find Wings of Desire, a very large tapestry at 2m (wide) by 1.3m (high)—On loan from a private collection, 3 medium sized tapestries at approximately 65cm squared and between 2-4 smaller sized works (some of which may be introduced during the 'Meet the Artist' event.
Come along and meet Susie on Friday 3 November from 3:30pm, chat about weaving and art and mingle with likeminded art enthusiasts, WOTSO tenants and staff and small to medium sized business owners.
