ARTIST STATEMENT
Driven by a lifelong fascination with the microscopic world, my practice began through the use of microscopes to observe and document freshwater plant life. For many years, I produced scientifically accurate drawings and photographs of microscopic specimens, contributing to academic journals and publications. This work demanded precision, detail, and fidelity to natural form.
Over time, my focus evolved from documentation to interpretation. Gradually, I shifted away from scientific realism toward a more abstract and expressive visual language. By retraining my eye to perceive microscopic details differently, I began to explore new compositional possibilities—merging observation with imagination.
Utilizing both traditional and digital tools—including cameras, pen tablets, and drawing media—I now create artworks that are informed by microscopic imagery but liberated from scientific constraints. My current practice incorporates analogue and digital printmaking techniques to produce vibrant, textural compositions that blur the boundaries between science and art.
Although these works originate from microscopic observation, they are not intended as scientific representations. Rather, they are aesthetic interpretations—visual transformations that render the invisible visible. Through this process, I invite viewers to engage with these images on their own terms, discovering meaning and recognition in forms once hidden from sight.
