ARTIST BIO
The Flannel Flower range of work incorporates a vintage flannel flower pattern sourced from an Australian Federation domestic glass window pane. The relief design is impressed into slabs of clay which are then manipulated into 3 dimensional forms, often with the help of the potters wheel.
Each piece is hand-thrown or slab-built (or a combination of both) by Denise McDonald, whose background in landscape architecture and formal ceramic training informs a practical, design-minded approach.
The work is highly functional but also very decorative. Special pieces that can be used every day. With an emphasis on quality materials, small-run production, and practical usability, DM Pottery appeals to those who value well-made, durable objects with a personal touch and sometimes, extra flourish.
