One of the noisier and common birds of the Blue Mountains, the New Holland Honeyeater can often be seen as it darts between banksias and other bush flowers. About 18cm long, these honeyeaters are predominantly black & white, with a large yellow wing patch and yellow-sided tail feathers providing an attractive contrast.
As a nectar feeding species, the New Holland Honeyeater is an important pollinator of flowering plants and is common on heath, forests, woodland and gardens.
The species' range extends throughout southern Australia, from about Brisbane, Queensland, to just north of Perth, Western Australia.
