ARTIST STATEMENT BY REEVA ASHTON
Reeva is an emerging artist living and working in the greater Melbourne region. Her paintings explore the juxtaposition between realism and abstraction, the traditional and the contemporary, and often with a psychological theme which is subconsciously informed by her allied health work. Reeva won the AGES society art prize in 2024, has received a highly commended prize in the Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award in 2024, and has been a finalist in the Kennedy Prize 2025, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award 2025 and 2023, Bluethumb Art Prize 2023, and Agendo Art Prize 2021, in addition to some smaller and local art prizes and awards. Reeva has her work in private collections across Australia.
